[Pro] Header bar help

How do I create a header bar-masthead like the one found at http://www.tonyrobbins.com/home/home.aspx
which includes his picture. I like the curved shape and faded effect on the lower part of it. The shadow effect is cool too.
Can this be done with Freeway Pro?
The only thing I have been able to create so far is a simple rectangle like the one found at http://www.nolansluder.com

Thanks for any help.

Paul

The example you show has been created outside of Freeway, but you can
do something very similar.

You need to use the Path tool to create the shape and the Shadow
settings from the Inspector. I’ll try to put something online later
today to show an example of what can be done simply.

However, you don’t get quite the control you would by producung the
header in Photoshop or another external application.

Here’s a link to the actual image for that site:

You could then save it out and use it as a template in Photoshop or some other photo-editing software. If you’re using Photoshop, the pen tool is your buddy on this one.

I’d just suggest that your picture doesn’t make you look cheesy like Tony there.

Here’s a quick & dirty example that might help

See: http://www.herefornow.co.uk/Sandbox/headertest

This was made entirely in Freeway 5 Pro.

I. I drew a graphic box rectangle and gave it the colour green. (You
could add a fade to this or use a photo background as an alternative).

  1. I drew a shaped graphic box using the Path tool (Click and hold on
the regular graphic button in the Menu Bar and select from the drop
    down).

  2. Control E imported the photo in to above.

  3. Next I selected the second icon in the inspector and clicked on
Effect and the Outer Shadow Icon, set to angle 0º and 40% Black,
adjusting Offset to 8 and Blur to 14.

  4. Then I cheated! Because I didn’t want to have shadow spilling to
left and right, I covered it with to graphic rectangles set to the
    background colour (white).

  5. The words “Coffee Cup” is another graphic to which I applied the
    Internal Shadow from the Inspector.

  6. I added the male stock photo to show you can get close with a
separate image, but I would normally add this in Photoshop or other
    photo editing application.

The are better ways - but at least the above gets you away from the
boring rectangle and copy approach - simply. (It took me as long to
type out the above as make and adjust the header!).

The important point is to experiment with Freeway, when you are at the
learning stage. Keep a second document open, where you can click on
everything and add from the Action menus to see what they do. You can
transfer what you learn to your main document using only the things
that work the way you want.

Hope that helps. I’ll leave the file uploaded for a couple of days or
so.

Colin
