I have Freeway Pro versions 3.5 and 4.4.2. and I’m happy to upgrade to 5 if necessary.
I have a web site of several hundred pages that needs to be brought into the 21st century and I need help to create the templates. Once that’s done, I need to be able to copy in original content from the old site and maintain it myself.
Anyone interested in creating, or helping me to create, the templates?
Background:
I’m 59 years old.
Been creating web sites using “Claris Home Page” since 1995.
Understand basic HTML and PHP but not CSS.
I have a degree in Electronic Engineering, run my own Internet mail-order company and have published a few technical books.
I’m not rich but I’ll pay for your time.
Thanks for responding.
Yes, (I don’t want to make it clickable here). It’s at sat-cure dot com (remove the hyphen).
I would like the page to be wider in order to make better use of a modern monitor. Say 17" as the base line. I do not anticipate ever requiring a third column. I want to keep the appearance as uncluttered as possible.
On the home page I want to change to a left-hand column menu, using the orange-tab categories from the top.
On the two main pages for “Shop” and “Technical” I want a long left-hand column menu, each listing the main subjects for those categories.
(The subjects should preferable expand on-hover to show more detail but I don’t require drop-down sub categories.)
On the “Shop” pages I’ll need help/advice on how to insert the “Add to Cart” form for each product.
Since Freeway can’t import html pages, I anticipate making fairly drastic changes to the layout. Probably standardising on product image widths.
I need to keep all page filenames the same so, as most of them are “.htm” they need to stay like that, otherwise thousands of search engine listings will be useless.
I hope this is enough detail to give you an idea of what’s involved! You might have better suggestions.
What I mean is something like the ALT text on a graphic. The menu link might be
{Coaxial Cable}
And you would see “coaxial cable on reels or cut to length with F connectors, clips, self-amalgamating TAPE, grommets, hole covers” when you hover the mouse.
This isn’t essential but it’s on my “wish list” and would provide useful information without cluttering the page.
I have had a little look at the site and to create a site wide template and associated CSS shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
I have a few questions, and probably more will crop up as I look through the site. I will contact you outside of this forum via one of your webforms if that is OK, alternately you can reach me info-at-ictlinksdotcodotuk
