[Pro] Highslide

Aha,

The “highslide” folder should be inside the “testsite” folder. Currently it is at the root of your public_html folder.

The page I went to for installation is:

http://highslide.com/#installation

I don’t see any steps that coordinate -

the other page I looked at was:

Julie,

You should be able to just copy that highslide folder into any new site you create. You must however make sure that the highslide folder is within the folder where all your site files are. So if the site was all in a folder called “newsite”, the highslide folder should be inside this folder.

Normally you would only have one highslide folder per website (as shown on the http://highslide.com/#installation page), but when testing - like you currently are - each test site folder should have its own highslide folder within it.

The tutorial page shows you the many ways to make changes to the way that highslide works within your site. Highslide is an extremely customisable piece of code. There are many customisations which may be made, I have only scratched the surface myself on sites I have used it on, and the latest version (4.1 due out soon) adds even more features.

Hi Julie,

Do you mean can I provide a link to show you how I have changed the style of the highslide pop-up on my test site?

If so, then there are loads of areas of the Highslide website which offer help in modifying the way highslide looks and behaves.

I always start at the support page - Highslide JS - JavaScript thumbnail viewer

But to find out most things you want to change, you really need to be looking at the API Reference - http://highslide.com/ref

For example, if you want to change the colour of the borders which appear in the highslide pop-up (like I have done on my test site, and also here - http://www.williamlockie.com/stock_service_ladies_classic.php, click the “view available colourways” link or any of the left hand side footer links"), you should then follow the instructions on this page carefully - http://highslide.com/ref/hs.outlineType

There is a lot of information on these pages as highslide is a very customisable piece of code, and I have found that the developer - Torstein Hønsi - is very good at providing help on the highslide forums, as are the other members of the forum. So if you get really stuck with a specific highslide question and can’t find it in the support page, tutorial or reference, then post a question on the forums as you usually get a pretty quick answer there too.

Hope that helps, and good luck with your project. I had another look at your test site, and it seems you have managed to progress quite a bit since last night. Hope you get the vertical navigation sorted out.
