Can anyone tell me why the home page had dropped by approx. 10 px?

There is a lot of stuff there to sort through, Graham. If I set the *
position* of item1c to absolute, it fixes the shift on that page but
does not explain why as you clearly have the same item on similar pages
that aren’t shifted. I would suspect the complexity of your page
construction – both divs and tables to position content, unnecessary
duplicate items, lots of floats and relative positioning, is all affecting
it somehow. What the final straw that breaks it’s back is, I can’t easily
work out. Sorry.

Still trying to unwrap the code, but I already see duplicates of several DIV’s from the header. just look for the text ‘don’t miss out’ in the code, and you’ll see that the DIV is shown twice.

What a bunch of code by the way … wow. Talking about finding a needle …

Yeah, that one stands out as it is physically near the top of the page, but
look at other pages which aren’t shifted and you find the same elements, so
I can’t easily explain why the index is shifted exactly 12px. Like finding
a needle in a needlestack ![]()

Thanks guys. Can you spare a few moments to tell me how I could have built this better?

Hi Graham,
first of all:
Pretty nice page - well designed - so nothin’ wrong with it.
Buuuuut:
Rename your item1b1a (as example) to meaningful expressions. That would be start. Doing this you’ll automagic stumble upon the duplicates:
e.g. “item1a2” is exact the same than “item1a2a”.
So avoid “duplicates” and “unneeded or empty divs”.
Try to remove that table stuff with your socialites. I think there is no need to hold them in a table (or keep it if you have any reason for it).
Cheers

Hi Thomas. Thanks for the advice. I understand the duplicates - not sure how they got there in the first place!
I have used layers to achieve the slide show - will it work in a div?
“Try to remove that table stuff with your socialites.” Sorry, I don’t understand - can you explain?
Many thanks.

This may happen by reapplying the child to the master-page, such as force republish, and one element had been part of the master and as well part of the child page.

Which is up to my understanding exactly correct.

That’s a point I often do not know how people accomplish “unwanted tables”. Fact is, that there is a “table” in your source code so:
One theory:
CSS Button off during the construction time of that part of the page by accident.
Second theory:
A lot of graphic features using inspector such as shadows, rounded corners and stuff which finally Freeway forces to display all this as tables.
As I said:
I think you did a really good job so there isn’t that much you should think about.
Cheers
