I just read this in the Freeway 5 Reference Manual which can be downloaded at Softpress. Great resource.

A page can be given a default style. To apply the style to a page, select the page in the Site panel (it has to be highlighted) and then click on the style name.

Power Tip: An alternative—and powerful—method of providing a “base” style which affects your whole web site design is to customize the predefined

style. Edit the style using the Edit Styles dialog box to add font, size, color, paragraph attributes, etc. When you draw an HTML item anywhere in your design it will automatically assume the settings of the default

tag.

Actually, you’d want to create a ‘body’ tag rather than editing the ‘p’ tag. A ‘body’ tag is the correct way to setup your default font, font-size, color, etc. The ‘p’ or paragraph tag is typically setup for ‘line-height’ or as FW calls it ‘leading’ and for text-alignment.

I have a video on my site that covers the ‘body’ tag.

Using the ‘p’ tag actually works fine for most stuff, but it doesn’t
affect things that aren’t simple paragraphs. Headers and lists are
good examples. This is the practical reason for creating your own
“body” tag style and fill it with your preferred type defaults.

You can also set up a basic template page with your body and p tag styles predefined as per Dan’s recommendation. Then use that page as your blank for starting a new site. I have found that in most of my sites I use the same or very similar body and p data.
