[Pro] How does FW optimize picture master items in inherited pages?

Hi!

I implemented 2 thumbnail slideshows in a master page as I need these slideshows in each and every page.

That works fine but seems sometimes a bit slow when switching between pages and I was wondering if FW does any optimization related to the duplication of these items and in particular the pic files. Do they have to be loaded for each page, and if they do, can I help FW to do a better job?

Generally speaking, whenever you have an image on a Master page, and
as long as the instances of that image are not detached from the
master (as they would be if you moved them or modified them in some
manner) you will only ever reference a single image.

Your browser will probably cache that image, so the second time your
page (or another page) references it, the image will be drawn from
cache.

The compression settings for that image are set in the Output tab of
the Image Inspector.

It’s not just Master pages that have this capacity, though. Freeway
looks through all known images for duplicates and weeds them out. It’s
quite ruthless about this behavior, and it does a binary comparison of
the images, so if it references image1.jpeg and image1a.jpeg, and they
both appear to be the same image, I can assure you there is one pixel
or more difference between them.

Tx, Walter, that was a very clear answer.
