I’m ready to upload my first site and not sure how to collect all the files to upload with an ftp (filezila) program.
Can Freeway Pro export all the pages and graphic and videos one’s using into a single folder so one is just uploading the necessary files, or do you have to manually select all the files?
On the host site is it better to all files in just one folder or have separate folders for graphics and videos?
Why not let Freeway upload the files for you? That’s what it’s there for. Then you don’t have to worry about the files in the site folder.

Freeway has already done that for you. That’s how is previews the site. It’s collected the files into a site folder on your local disc. Hopefully you know where that is. But it does not matter.
Try pressing command-u add your FTP details. Bingo done.

There’s a folder called Resources within that’s got all the elements I’ve been using but it also has earlier version of graphic files. I searched on my computer for site and a small file showed up within the same folder but that just opens my latest version of my freeway file.
I see that Freeway can upload one’s files, but I thought I read something that it’s not as detailed an ftp program as is Filezila. If you have any thoughts on this I’d surely appreciate it which ftp way to go.
Does Freeway create a sepate folder with only the most current graphics used? If so, I can’t seem to find it typing in “site map.” Any help here is most welcome.
OK - the way to find your Site Folder that FW created for you (the CONTENTS of which are uploaded in their entirety to your server)
File>Document Setup and look under the first Tab (Document) just under the width and height attributes you will see Site Folder…
This is the current version of your site and will contain all your updated files once you have published your site.
You can choose to create a new Site Folder by clicking on the Select button and then Create or Choose a folder to become your new Site Folder. Give it a meaningful name but dont put that site folder inside any existing FW created folders. Best to put it alongside where your FW doc is.
But to go back to what David suggested why not use FW to handle the upload for you. FW will only upload changed files. It is a PITA to manually select files to upload using an FTP app. And if you can use an FTP app then you will know all the details to enter into the File>Document Setup>upload section.
Gentlemen Dave’s, I heed your well informed advice and uploaded the quick and easy with FW. May I move quickly or at least somewhat smoothly out of the newbie category. And with the terrific support that’s here on this forum that forecast looks pretty good.
