Steven, yes, that is possible. Look at the Maurice Cowley example in the Using Freeway Guide. It shows you exactly how to do that.

When I duplicate the graphic item, the copy place itself below the original. I can’t place it on top or under the original graphic.

Are you sure you have the offset for both vertical and horizontal set to 0 when you duplicate?

Anything you create as a Graphic in FW you can export and use as your rollover image.

What exactly is going wrong with the duplicating? Is it the Item>Duplicate step on p62 of the guide that’s going wrong?

To be honest I didn’t even look at the tut - is it a layer issue?

Just offering an alternative without deep diving.

If I get a chance I will have a look for you.

Hi Steven,
This is probably not what you want as you can do most of this sort of rollover with just images but this is how I would do them in Freeway with HTML overlays;
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/795566/test/janogarcia-rollover/index.html

It is a very similar technique to my sliding captions example (http://www.freewaystyle.com/sliding-captions/) but without moving the overlay itself. There are a couple of things I’d change if I was producing this for a site rather than a demo (swapping the table for a div structure for example) but I left these out to try and keep the file as simple as possible. It should give an indication of how you can create these sorts of rollover effects in Freeway.
Regards,
Tim.

I have a HTML Box, in that box i have placed a content wrap and in that i have placed the image. When i want to duplicate the image, the copy placed itself below the original image. I can’t choose the option offset. I have used the Health template from Softpress as a example.

So, you can get the technique working as per the tutorial, but not in the Health template.
I don’t have access to that template, but I’m guessing it’ll be using percentage based inflow, and that is a much more complex issue.
Maybe you could post your site so that someone could help. Alternatively, contact FWP support. They are very helpful and quick with their responses.

Hi Tim,

I saw your example of the cool box rollover- downloaded your file and tried to copy exactly, but cannot get anything to move at all. I do not even see an action that would move anything. Maybe because I do not have the action needed installed that it does not come thru in your file?

The only actions i see used are
-CSS3 corners
-HTML block link

I must be missing something.

Thanks for any help.

I can send you the link to what I have so far if needed.

Hi Barry,
Choose to show the items in the site panel and you’ll see that ‘overlay’ is a child of the ‘thumb’ item. The reason you are having problems moving it is because you’re selecting the thumb and trying to drag it out of the parent but Freeway is preventing you from doing so. Either select the thumb itself and move that or hold down the command key while dragging the overlay and Freeway will let you break away from the parent item.

Tim.

Hi TIm,

Thanks for the reply. I actually did see that point you made about the child (hope i did it right). I then fixed it and still nothing.

Can you check out this page I made for you with only this one instance trying to duplicate.
It includes a picture of my site pane.

Thanks for letting me know what the heck I am missing.
