[Pro] HTML Tracking Code Not Working

Hi Gang –

I’m using a marketing automation tool similar to Marketo, Act-On or HubSpot on my site.

They’ve given me HTML code to drop into the site, so I’ve dropped it on using the Page → HTML Markup feature.

I’ve dropped the code into the Before section.

Here’s what the code looks like:

Unfortunately, the code isn’t being seen by the marketing automation tool. In other words, it isn’t being tracked, so I can’t tell who is coming to the site.

Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong here?

Thanks,
Jamie

When did you post the code in there? I know with such tools as google analytics it takes up to 24 hours for it to be recognized. Can be same thing with this code

Hi Howard. Thanks for your follow-up. Much appreciated.

I’ve been posting and re-posting the code for several days now. The folks at the marketing automation firm say it should be working, but I’m not able to get it to take.

I have other code in the site that seems to be working, so I’m not sure why this code is mis-behaving.

Jamie
My experience is that this type of code goes after the head.
not before. But I have also found that you may have to experiment when using the Page —> HTML Markup feature.
It took me 3 times to get some code to drop in the right place. But that could be my lack of experience.

Thanks, John. I’ll give that a try to see if it works. Keep the suggestions coming. This is driving me nuts!

the “before end body”

seems to be the place you should choose (see p.4):
