[Pro] HTML Type Not Rendering Properly

Yikes!

When I create new pages and insert HTML type, the formatting isn’t working. I’ve done this the same way for years, but now things are all goofy on me.

Here’s an example:

Walt and Dave were kind enough to address this in a previous stream, but I couldn’t really understand what they were saying. Is it possible someone could dumb down what’s going on so I can fix it?

I’m running version 6.1.2 of Freeway Pro which I believe is the most recent version.

Thanks!

This is all about setting a default style for your body text.

I believe you want your default to be Helvetica 12 pt

Click on the Cog in the Styles palette and choose Styles>New Style

Type body in the Tag field and then Tab into the Name field and delete whatever FW has (un)helpfully put in there for you. Now Tab out of the field and just make sure that the Name field stays blank.

Now set your default styling in the pickers below - I am only showing Font and Size but you can set anything you like to be your default.

Once set just OK the dialogue box and you are GTG and any text that you create in FW will get that font styling unless you add/change it or it is affected by its container’s styling.

I would also use the Page Inspector (with nothing selected on the page) and under the 2nd Tab you can set your default Link styles.

Hi David –

Thanks so much for your follow-up. The explanation above helps me a ton since I’ve never known exactly how to use the default style feature.

As it turns out, it looks as though the problem was with my Google rel=author feature. Long story short is that I put the mark-up code on my Master page which apparently causes a conflict.

The proper approach (according to Google) is to just put it on your home page or on your blog. Otherwise, it apparently causes problems.

I made that adjustment and everything is working fine now.

As always, thanks for your help. You guys are always very good at providing tips on how to fix issues.

Cheers,
Jamie

BTW - it looks your styling is

font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
font-size: 14px;

And not Helvetica 12pt
