Evening all - (sounds like a line from an old police drama. Showing my age damn it!)
Im looking to add a video file to a site and i need it to open in a lightbox as there is only an image linking to the video itself - no room for the actual video placeholder.
I have used things like JW Player and Videojs in the past to deliver multiple formats of a video to ensure more cross browser / platform compatibility. I’ve never tried to get them to open in a lightbox though.
I know you can just link to a video file in the scripty lightbox action, but that uses a single file and invokes the big blue Q - not my favourite of players.
What do you think is the ideal solution. Regarding the size of the lightbox, what happens on an ios or mobile device. The standard inpage players can be responsive, but what about the lightbox?
Many thanks for your guidance.

You mention HTML5 in your title but not after that?
Anyway, here is an example that uses ScriptyLightbox2 for the lightbox to display a page which uses Walter’s Sublime Player action.

Whether or not this is an ideal solution - who knows.
Haven’t even tried it on iOS

Hi Dave, you’re quite right, I omitted the word player in my post title. Sorry about that.
Thanks for the link. It opens a small lightbox on an iPhone which when tapped to play, switches to the devices native full screen mode. This is pretty close to ideal.
Is there anything special about the page that is linked to in the lightbox action, or is it just sized to fit the player of your choice?
I haven’t seen any guides about that, though scanning the forum this morning, I saw mention of a PHP action.
Thanks for your advice.

Just a quick update - got that to function nicely with videojs and did a bit of digging to see how to resize the lightbox window and video player with some css and media queries - nice.
This way I can deliver the video in various formats. Now all we need to do is record the video.
Many thanks.
