[Pro] If I upgrade to 5, what should I worry about?

Greetings, all. I haven’t been on the forum for quite some time because I’ve been busy with editorial projects. But I do have a number of client web sites I’ve created over the years and though I’d much like to move from Freeway Pro 4 to version 5, I live in terror of things breaking.

To that end, I wonder if anyone could take a fast look at my main client site (http://www.whitehallboca.com), which concerns me by far the most. I’m particularly interested in what might happen to links, drop-down menus (which only appear in interior pages) and – especially – the employment application I labored for days to create. That particular page is specifically at Whitehall | Nursing & Rehabilitation - Boca Raton, FL. It makes use of the PHP Feedback Form (1.8b) and Validate Extra (11.0) actions. I do believe I might leap from a tall building if something throws that page off!

I am by no stretch a master of Freeway, so many things probably take me longer than they should. Nevertheless, Pro 5 looks compelling and the only thing stopping me is fear of massive remakes. I really can’t afford the time or lost income for that.

Please share your thoughts on my site and any other tidbits that could make this a reasonably smooth transition.

Thank you all in advance.

I found changing from FW4 to FW5 virtually painless - certainly none
of the issues of FW3.5 to FW4. However if any of your images are
native Adobe Illustrator make sure you go to FW 5.4.1 and avoid the
previous version, which breaks them.

Providing you have not included any very old Actions (which you can
update) or used much extended code, you should find most pages
transfer seamlessly. Also, when you open your file in FW5, a FW4
backup is created and you can still keep the FW4 application on your
system as a reserve measure.

Hope that allays some fears. It’s well worth the upgrade.

Thanks for your input, Colin. There probably isn’t anything fancy on my pages, but as I said, I live in terror of the application form falling apart. Freeway is the only app I hesitate so long in upgrading because it doesn’t always “just work.” That’s probably not much of an issue for people with a lot of expertise or a willingness to recreate every page. But I fall into neither camp.

Hope some others pitch in here.
