[Pro] Image across a width which fits width

Question

At the moment im creating a vertical scrolling site …(many thanks to Walter) which is working great but the problem I have is that i would like to apply …solid colour/image which would be placed a location do the page.

But the would scroll up with the rest of the items … the problem I have I have created a HTML box and then inserted the colour/image
made the width 100% but it disappears…arrrrrrr

Just as a debugging step, put some text inside the 100% box, and
preview in a browser. Search for that text. It can’t truly disappear,
it has to have gone somewhere. What may have happened in your document
is that you set it to 100% width but also disabled the height. That
could make it shrink up to nothing vertically and appear to be missing.

If the box appears when it’s full of text, then next delete that text,
but as you do, be sure to set the Title field in the Inspector (which
counter-intuitively creates the ID parameter) to some known value,
like peekaboo, and publish again. This time, view source, and search
for that ID. See if it’s still there, but not visible. And do publish
this somewhere that we can inspect it – the source will tell all.

It sounds a bit like you want an element to be full-width of the
browser window, but you have a centered page. Is that the case? If so,
you may need to change your page layout structure a bit.

Centered pages force a width to the page in order to center that page,
and even 100% width elements can only get as wide as that page width.

In order to have centered fixed-width or flexible-width content within
the context of a full-browser-width page, you have to create an inline
element that has its margin set to Auto, and then draw your content
within that element. It’s not as hard as it sounds, but it does force
you into the weeds of what Freeway usually makes easy, beyond them in
some cases.

Let me know if this is indeed what your goal is.

Download this file, and see if it helps you understand how to center
elements within a full-width page. If you wanted to add a rule to the
middle of the page, but you didn’t know where it would fall on the
vertical axis, you could use this trick, and simply by adding a border
to the bottom or top of one of the “slices” that run through the
middle of the page, you could have a full-width rule, but a centered,
fixed-width “page” in the middle of that.
