Thanks everyone! I was hoping to not have to mess with converting hundreds of photos in PS. Most of these photos are 10 plus years old, before the pdf workflow we now enjoy. Guess I have another job ahead of me.

If you use Photoshop, you can set up an action to perform the RGB conversion, resize, save etc. which will make it a breeze.

At least you can use Image Processor in Photoshop, or maybe a batch action, and go and have a cup of tea while it does it all …
