[Pro] index.html

Can someone tell me what this means below? Do I change my home.html file to index.html in my document home page— then re save and upload?

Chuck

IMPORTANT: Make sure you upload your files to the public_html or www directory on the server otherwise they will not be visible on the internet. Also, please be sure that your homepage is saved as an &quotindex" file e.g., index.htm, index.html, etc.

Yes, just make sure your Home page has a filename in the Inspector of
index.html.

FW defaults to index.html when creating a new page in a folder so to get home.html you must have changed it consciously in the inspector.

But have no fears that once you have changed it back in FW’s inspector to index.html
all your internal links will be preserved and yes re-upload for it to take effect on the server.

Thanks Paul and David. I changed it back to index.html; uploaded it and my site is working fine.

Finally catching up on my email for this list.

Chuck,
I was looking at your site http://www.charlesowright.com and I noticed
the Title of your pages is just simple words, e.g. home, contact.
There was a posting recently that talked about the need to have page
titles that helped search engines. e.g. instead of “Home”, maybe “Home
Page of Charles O. Wright” , and, “Biography of the Artist Charles O.
Wright”.
Just a thought.

LLE,

Tried that but the lengthy phrases wouldn’t stay in my inspector.

Tried it again. It stuck in there and worked this time.
