[Pro] Intaglio not importing SVGs from Inkscape

Not talking of Inkscape.svg just normal.svg.
File is just containing some rectangles converted to paths. Every other app loads the file including GIMP, crack-old AI-CS2, Cheetah3d, Draw-Berry, iDraw, VectorDesigner, even Safari displays it correctly…
The only workaround is using PDF. I don´t understand this!
And while I´m here - please tell me there´s a short-cut-list anywhere. Having usually 20 elements needed to be converted to “Stroke to Fill” and only works on per object is a real show stopper.

Thanks for reading.

Best regards

Frank

Here .svg importing works, for both Intaglio 3.4.2 and the current beta version 3.5.
Did you try dropping the .svg file onto Intaglio’s icon?
Did you try with another .svg file?

I´m confused. I updated to Inkscape 0.48.5 lately and it seemed no good idea. Some additions won´t work anymore like “interpolating” . I had to switch back. I checked all back and forth and I hate when it happens but now that particular file opens in Intaglio directly from mail.app via drag&drop to Intaglio.app icon or from a folder with special characters on the file path. So hopefully this was just an hick-up.
Strange thing is a new Inkscape file loads due my testing until I copy/pasted some of the rectangle paths - then it stops working and I can´t find anything in the xml-text. Kind of frustrating.

So does anyone know where to find the shortcuts built into Intaglio?

Thanks for your time.

Cheers

Frank

Regarding shortcuts, I don’t remember ever seeing a list, but you can specify your own. In the Finder, go to Preferences, click ‘Keyboard’ and in the dialogue box, choose ‘keyboard Shortcuts’. Click the + button and choose Intaglio. After setting up, the shortcuts appear in the menu. My shortcuts worked, but they disappeared following a system upgrade.

I might be misunderstanding you, but when you say '20 elements needed to be converted to ‘Stroke to Fill’, did you actually mean ‘Arcs to Curves’?

For me, the standard Oval tool has never worked, so I just don’t use it (I’d prefer a normal Bezier circle tool like other drawing programs). It’s tedious having to use the Arcs to Curves menu to convert ovals to Bezier paths, so I keep a converted circle in the Library. When I need a circle, I just drag one from the Library.

Regarding SVG, they import here (Intaglio 3.4.3, OS 10.6.8). I’ve noticed that some SVGs, usually ones saved from web sites, import into Intaglio. They scale correctly (no ragged bitmap edges), but there’s no obvious way of splitting them, so they can’t be edited.

I’ve not used it with SVG, but this online converter might work.

Hi Ian.
Thanks for stepping by.
I think I´d better have make a simple restart of Intaglio, as all other apps don´t have had any trouble with this special file.
Actually I was talking about “Stroke to Fill”. Here´s a very simple example where I need just 5 objects to convert:

Regarding the “Oval tool”. I love that thing - look at the example to the right - doing this in Illustrator is a pain because it still don´t support partial circles. ;-(

Thanks for the reminder on MacOSX´s capabilities - I often forgot about - I´ll try my best.

Cheers

Hi Ian.
I had success with setting my own hotkeys for some most-used functions via keyboard-preferences. So thank you for the tip.

Hi Frank,
Glad the shortcuts worked. Nice work by the way. I’ve recreated your designs and they’re in my library!
