Hi, I was wondering if a user would be able update a site after the site has been created? Is there a way that a user can update a speciffic page with info and new photos like a template that can be accessed and automatically update the site that was created for them? Im trying to design a site for a real estate company and they want the ability to update a list of their properties on their own (with info about the property i.e. price, features, comments, ect.) … is there a way to achieve this without having me remake the page everytime they have a new listing?
Yes. The best way to do this is to use Max Fancourt’s setup of the Web Yep Action.
Usually sites like these (real estate etc) are done in PHP and call info from a Mysql Database depending on a visitors requirements ie search terms for properties in different areas, price ranges etc.
Certainly it can be done with WebYep but a site with a lot of properties could well be a problem, especially if the need for searching through and narrowing down property requirements is a must.
I agree with David. WebYep is very good for straightforward content
changes, but not really sophisticated enough for more than a small a
property site. Take a look at http://www.easibase.com for a dedicated
property solution. I’ve never used it, but it comes from a ‘Freeway
friendly’ source.
Yes I was going to provide a link to Easibase (Mike Brackenridge’s site) last night but his server appeared to be down so I didn’t want to confuse the issue. Also I am not sure if Mike’s development of EasiProperty is ongoing but you can certainly contact him through Easibase.
Unfortunately easiProperty is on the back burner at the moment (has been all of this year), just haven’t the time to do anything more with it right now although I hope ‘come the end of summer’ I will get the time to continue and complete it then.
Dave, the data centre in the UK where my server is located was moving to a new location, they did the move at night to cause as little disruption as poss… which it would have done in the UK while anyone working in the US or early hours in Europe would have more chance of catching the move, this was only for a few hours and all is back and fine now, you must just have caught them in the middle of the move.
