[Pro] Items moving when page resized

Hi guys,

I haven’t noticed this in other pages Ive created but today I Noticed this and its annoying me and I can’t work out how to fix it.

When the page is opened everything is aligned fine, but if you shrink your browser window, html boxes move from where they should be. They don’t stay relative to the background.

Any tips on fixing this highly annoying problem

Thanks Matt

Because you have the background image (Resources/elise-background.png) as a background and set it to centre, top - then it will always try and do just that (stay centre, top relative to the browser window.

Instead treat it as any other graphic on your page ie a layered item.

Also with a page size of 1120 then recent discussion suggests that 50% of viewers wont be able to see it properly.

Thanks for your help Dave, really appreciate it.

I thought that might be away to get around the problem. Was just annoying me, that then my guide lines that I have set up run under the background image so are basically useless, but I guess I can get around that.

Also thanks the tip. The actual page is actually 960, I just had some white space in the background file either side of it while I was making some colour decisions.

If you work with a narrower page it will still show as expected in
wider windows - and it won’t misbehave until the browser window width
is reduced to that size.

For this kind of layout, regard the Freeway page width as the minimum
size that browser windows can be while still aligning things
correctly. You have a layout of objects. That layout will be centered
within the browser window as long as there’s at least enough room for
it… otherwise the browser just crops in from the right, while still
sliding the background image around. Standard browser behaviour I’m
afraid.

Leave the background image as it is, but change the Freeway page
width to something like 700px. At this point it might help to put a
copy of the background graphic onto your page as a regular object so
you can add guides to show where the ‘boundaries’ lie, then delete
the image.
