[Pro] JQuery gallery

Hi Folks,

I’ve just uploaded my new (beta still) website using jquery for image presentation. http://www.scottish-photography.co.uk/new/landscape/georgeloganscott.html

Dan J’s Freeway cast was very helpful.

I have however two issues that have me stuck for a resolution. The captions though set for align center only do so in Firefox and then not consistently. This might just be a local issue and people might find its fine even with safari, were they consistently for me align left.
The second is that with slightly slower browsers, even safari there’s a very quick ‘flicker’ of the images cascading downwards when loading a gallery. Causing the browser scroll bars to show momentarily. Not drastic but not ideal.

Anyone had this and found an answer ?

My issue is that there is no initial image on page load - just an empty page (apart from text) viewing on my iPad (haven’t tried desktop yet).

The captions Align centre and position centre on gallery 1 but on 2 the text is centre aligned but positioned to the left.

I see the cascade you talk about but that really isn’t a concern for me - no initial image is worse.

Hi Dave,

Raining in Glasgow as well then:-)

Sorted it out I think. I’ve emphasised the ‘center align’ just before the text and not relying on other styling. So:

Untitled

<p style="width:575px"align=“center”>Untitled
1/20

Probably I don’t need the width again but got it working… This might help with the initial flicker as the browser won’t need to figure the situation out. Shall test that later.

I’m going to add a small fading display or random image on the welcome page and possibly also on the gallery pages have ‘something’ in a bit.

I designed it with iPad in mind.

thanks,

Yup - chucking it down earlier.

And yes your alignment works for me now.

The align attribute is deprecated and isn’t valid in any form of XHTML
or Strict HTML. Try this instead:

style="width:575px; text-align:center;"
