[Pro] Layout/design for site

I have a church organization’s website that I want to begin as a mock-up for potential use in the future. The current usage is usually event driven and what’s current as a whole and by each sub-location (churches worldwide).

Typical use scenario#1: Lookup a church location, see what the current meetings or events are, click on it for more information, go back to the list, view another, if this one has registration information (they use Acteva), I can click and begin the sign up process. Etc.

Typical use #2: Lookup a jurisdiction (many churches in a region), see what the events are, get more information as scenario#1.

The current site is using a message board for these purposes and it is very confusing what is the “latest” information if there is mulitple posts in different spots on the forums. Most people do not use the forums to ask questions, etc. because they can’t seem to get access to it.

Is there a simple design to use that I can create some sort of a database and pull that information into pages of FWP? My knowledge is simple, so I know that limits my designing options. Can I create pages where users could post comments or questions on that page?

I made some personal investment to learn Expression Engine (
http://expressionengine.com/) in a freeway site. It does take some time to
study and learn how to use EE in Freeway but this tutorial was excellent and
gave me a ton of information to work with. Might not be for you, but
thought I’d throw it out to everyone anyway. The tutorials are amazing and
Joe’s EE action helps immensely

Bill,

This looks PERFECT - way beyond my expectations! I am not sure how long it would take me to learn all of this, but it looks like a great starting point. Since the organization is worldwide, the contributors to the site are are well.

Since we have the jurisdictions plus the church in each jurisdiction, I am not sure on the layout, but it looks workable. (As in current events - will it list ALL or just a specific jurisdiction?) Lots of questions will come up like this in the layout design.

How long did it take you to learn all of this? Is it rather easy to implement and maintain? I have my own business site I can run this on for testing (learning) purposes, but do not (currently) have access to the church’s hosting.

Hmm - I am not sure how FWP integrates into this process… instead of a template, I can use FWP to set up… ?? Missing the obvious here I think…
