[Pro] Lightbox2 Caption Issues

I’m using Lightbox2 on these images, but for some reason my caption is getting cut off on image number 7. Image #7 triggers a group of two images, but even when I removed the 2nd image, my caption is cut off.

If you look at Image #6 & 9, you will see that it is allowing for a much longer description text/caption. Can anyone see what might be the problem?

Thanks so much!

Doty

Hi Doty,
Here’s the HTML for that caption;

title="The roof on the right is "shinier," has the convex base and is later than the example on the left."

Can you see the nested quotes in there? Change the quotes in the caption to single ones (') or use " (slash + double quote);

title="The roof on the right is \"shinier,\" has the convex base and is later than the example on the left."

Regards,
Tim.

Tim,

Thank you so much!!! I couldn’t get the slash + double quote to work, but the single quote worked just fine. So, are " " a no-no with this action? Whatever the reason, I’m so happy you spotted the problem.

Thanks again,

Doty

Hi Doty,
For the moment, yes. I need to see if I can remove this restriction in the Action itself.

Thanks Tim,

It’s good to find this out now at the early stage of this project. There are 100s (if not 1000s) of images and I’m using this action extensively. I’m going to minimize the amount of text I add to the caption field best I can, but just in case, do you know what the max # of characters is?

Also, one other question. I’ve been applying the action to the pic itself. But it also looks like I could apply to the container. Is there a “best practice” here? I’m not using pass-through images so that I can use the overlay graphic.

Thanks again!

Doty

Hi Doty,
The Action will limit caption text to 255 characters (about three full lines of text) although the lightbox itself will handle a lot more than this. These were intended as captions rather than novels so I’m hoping this should be enough for your needs.

Yes, apply the Action to the image rather than the parent as it allows you to add in custom image overlays if you want.
Regards,
Tim.
