[Pro] Link styles?

How do you create link styles (link, visited, hover, active) using the Extended panel?

Is there a particular reason you want/need to do this through the Extend panel? I ask because it can easily be done through the Inspector or Text Link Style action.

So I can make a universal change if needed.

If you set a link style at the page level, all other links on the page will inherit from that style. So if you set your colors or underline style at the page level, then you would only need to add (or override) the portions of that base style that you wanted to change further down the document tree. (Your sidebar might have different link styles than the main body, say.) And if you change the style at the top level, anything you hadn’t overridden further down (say all of your links inherited the font, never changed that) then all of those partial styles would change at once. This is the very essence of the first C in CSS (cascading) and Freeway does nothing that would overwhelm that as long as you think ahead.

My problem is I want the links to be section specific (i.e. header, main-content, footer). I thought there was a way to do this using a paragraph style, but I didn’t see an option for links and I don’t know what code to use in the Extended panel.

You can create the the link styles for specific sections on your master page.

I was going to say that. Just click once on the section in question, and you get a whole new layer of link styles for just that section. But start from the page level – really – and you won’t have to do as much in each section. You can set a global behavior that all parts of the page will inherit, then just tweak the parts of the style that matter to that one section. So you could change the link color in a part of the page where the background is dark, for example.
