[Pro] links moving

I set an image as my background that frames the site, then placing my internal nave buttons in a blank area and then when i go to preview the site in the browser, the buttons move up in to the header?

here is the test url.
file:///Users/christopherbence/Documents/upperkut/Site%20Folder/index.html

Any idea why this is happening? The internal links are jpeg graphics that have a rollover action on them.

Thanks,

Hi, it looks like the url you sent is actually just a link to the preview of your site on your computer, not the web. Can you upload the test page to a server where we could take a look at it?

You will have to get some server space somewhere. You can search through this site…there have been numerous disccusions on various hosting companies. One of those threads might lead you to a good host.

I think i figured something out with this…i noticed when i adjusted the safari window to take the screen shot that the back ground image moves to adjust to always be centered in the window but the links do not…this made it so the background image that is supposed to be framing everything is moving… so should i not set the image as a back ground but rather an locked image?

Yes…if you have your background image as the background in the page inspector, then the image will move around based on the size of the browser.

How can i get my links to stay locked in or match their positioning in relation to the positioning of the back ground image? so they all move together…

If you center align the page, and center align the background, then they will stay together.

i select the link and go to item and align, then select center vert and center hori and click ok…but that doesn’t seem to do anything.

Is there something else i need to do or something?

Christopher,

You need to do two things, and only two things…

  1. Set the page background image horizontal alignment to be centered
  2. Set the page alignment to be centered.

You do both these things by first making sure you have nothing
selected - this makes sure that the Inspector palette is ‘inspecting’
the page itself.

Then you click the paintbrush tab icon to look at the Appearance
section of the Inspector. Set the Horizontal option to Center. (You
probably have this done already.)

Now click the first tab, the General Page Appearance section. Set the
Align option to Center; this will set the page contents (separate
from the page background) to be centered.

That’s it. The items on your page will be centered just the same as
the background image.
