[Pro] Locating the Sitemap XML file

Hello,

How can I get access the sitemap.xml file that the Sitemapper Action automatically created and submitted for me? I would like to have a look at it.

Also, while the Sitemapper tool said I successfully uploaded the file to Google, the Google Webmaster Tool does not register that I have a Sitemap. Do I need to wait a while for Google register the upload or do I need to also manually upload the xml file on the Google Webmaster Tool site?

Thank you!

Hi Mariel,
The sitemap document will be called ‘sitemap.xml’ and should be stored in with the HTML documents in your site folder (it will be in the same location as the page you applied the Site Mapper File location page Action to).

Site Mapper doesn’t actually upload the site map to the search engines but ‘pings’ them with the location of the site map document. Make sure that the site has been uploaded to your server before you submit the site map otherwise the site map won’t be there when the search engine looks for it.
Regards,
Tim.
