I wanted to post this in case anyone else has the same issue, as a possible solution. I hope it’s ok to do this!
I received the dreaded error message, when setting up Mal’s, following the instructions in the Reference manual, “It was not possible to load your new configuration: it was not able to connect with your web server at:”
I wrote Mal who started looking into it, but also contacted my hosting service to make sure there wasn’t an issue with the malsettings.cfg file, which other threads here have discussed.
In this case the issue was with the hosting company blocking Mal, as per their explanation after unblocking them:
"Our system is a bit more difficult to work with due to our security. Our bot-blocking system does not allow any unknown scripts to access your website, which prevents hackers from using their toolkits to try to hack your site. Of course, these systems do make things a bit more complicated, but that’s what we’re here for – to help you get everything working the way that you need to. "
All it took was for me to click on my e-buy button five or six times for them to identify the IP address and unblock it.
Hope this helps someone else. Two days and that’s all there was!
