[Pro] Mal's Multiprice or other solution?

Hi Folks,

I have created a webshop with Mal’s actions. Now, the client wants also the option to order all items and ‘only the new’ items in one go. This page has the ‘normal’ order options: http://www.vitaux.nl/mcvoordieren.html , but he wants two more buttons or links or whatever that says: ‘Order all books’ and ‘Order all new books’ What would be the easiest solution to do this?

Thanks,

Paul

Just a quick note to say that the PHP feedback Form action has been
updated to version 2.0.0.
The actions (available in a page, item and standalone variety) now use
the more robust $_SERVER PHP code which should cause fewer problems
for all of you using PHP5 on your servers. PHP 4 is still supported
right back to version 4.1.0.
In addition to this I’ve added an option to add a simple spam trap (a
honey trap) to weed out automated scripted submissions by using a form
field that visitors won’t see but spam bots will. You can also choose
to log the sender’s IP address in the resulting email as well.
Finally there is an option to set the php_ini setting in the script
which some ISPs require (FastHosts for example).

The action has been tested on PHP 4 and 5 but if there is anything
that doesn’t appear to function correctly then please be sure to let
me know at;

Tim.

I’m not sure why this message showed up under this thread or why some of the text styling has gone screwy when viewed online. I think I’ll be moving this post if you don’t mind!

Hi Paul,

How did you want the items to show up in the cart, as one entry (all new books) or as a list of the titles as if the user had added them manually?

You can manually add a product for all items and another for all new items to the cart quite easily. You would need to keep these up to date as the products changed but it should be quite easy to do.

On the other hand you could create a script that loops through the items on the page and adds each to the cart as part of a ‘new’ or ‘all’ bundle. It would offer an automated solution but would require JavaScript to do its stuff.

If you think you’ll need more of this sort of functionality in the future then it may be worth considering using a database and PHP to pass the products to the Mals cart.

Regards,
Tim.

Hi Tim!

Indeed, as one entry, no need for a list of titles. I assume I need to write a script manually right? Hmmm… that is my weak point

Thanks anyways. I need to sort it out with my client then. Some good excuse or take up the challange!

Hi Paul,
If I were you I’d consider making two new products manually in Freeway; one
called “All books” and the other “New books” and add suitable descriptions to
each.
For example;
1 x New books; includes this book, that book, another book, etc. $10.00

If you, or your client, needs something like a search facility, customer
reviews, ratings etc. then it would be a good opportunity to move on from
static pages and deliver this as a dynamic page. Your ‘New books’ product would
then be compiled on the fly and drawn from all of the titles in the database
that you consider new.

For the moment I suspect compiling the products manually will be your best bet
as it is both quick easy and cheap to do. Things may change however when you
have 1000 titles to sell!
Regards,
Tim.
