[Pro] Maximum file length settings not working

I’m trying to have more characters in the filename.html than the default character setting of 21. I went to Document Setup, Output, and set my max file length to 31. (I’m actually just adding one more character letter). When I enter the file name information in the page palette (and hit return), it still does not accept the additional letter. Am I doing something incorrect? It doesn’t seem to be cooperating.

Could you take a look at the Document Setup dialog? Click on the Output tab, and see what the File Names picker is set to. Try Unix/Windows if it’s not set to that.

Is 31 the max file length one can achieve in Freeway?

Currently, yes. It is true that long file names can help with search
engine optimising and that Freeway imposes that limit. It ain’t great
but it really isn’t the end of the world; your SEO expert shouldn’t
have fits about this!

Well, he did say it was the most fundamentally crippling issue he’s dealt with in 8 years. I’m sure there is a bit of hyperbole in his statement. The guy is good and knows what he is doing.

Don’t get me wrong, a file name is not overly critical to SEO, but he was just shocked by the limitation imposed by Freeway. Something they should address.

I’m sure he is good. His statement was certainly somewhat
exaggerated, but he’s right that it should be better than this. This
has come up a few times recently - I hope it is dealt with soon.
