Believe it or not, I’ve never given much thought to the “iPhone” tab in Document Setup (which is now the “Mobile” tab in FW6). Can someone tell me why we would even want to iPhone or iPad users from being able to pinch to zoom as much as they want? Honestly, if they want to zoom in on my web pages to more clearly see text, why not allow them to do that? Why set a “maximum zoom”?
Moreover, what is so magical about Freeway’s default “160%” maximum zoom limitation? What makes it better than say 200%, or even 159%?
The iPhone options are needed if you’re building a flexible-width/responsive website. Having the mobile device zoom on a page which shrinks to fit on the display is not what you usually want happening!
I can’t say why Softpress chose 160% for the zoom.

Isn’t that akin to forcing your page to open full screen? “You will
view it the way I want, not in a way that you like (or need)”.

The mobile devices can still zoom in, but I want the default set at 100% zoom, not 200%. When I build a mobile website I’m very careful and make sure that zooming is not needed for a great experience.
