[Pro] Meta Plus Action: Master Page?

I applied the Meta Plus action to a master page, but the individual pages based off of it are not updating. Is there a way to make this happen? “Use Master Actions” is checked on the child pages, but it is also grayed out.

Or should I just enter all the meta info through the Page > Meta Tags dialogue? This is the way I always used to do it, but I was trying to use the action this time.

I have a few other related questions:

  • In the Meta Plus Action dialogue for Title: is that site title, or page title? I’ve already titled all my pages with the retitle page action and I don’t want to “undo” that work.

  • This is a paid member site that is very heavy on images. I have two separate FW docs, one public and the other restricted to members only via a password set on the server… Should I set the images to “no image index” for the robot tag on the membership pages? Ideally, google would index a small thumbnail and then if the user wanted a good quality image it would prompt them to become a paid member. I also don’t want to be dinged in SEO because of this setting.

  • I’m also unsure if I want google to index/follow my paid member pages. They are on a separate document, so it could have different settings. The members are going to go to the site to look for changes. I don’t think google needs access, but again, I’m unsure.

If these images are within a password protected folder then Google cannot index them.

Okay, excellent, David. That is what I was hoping. Thank you.

Now, am I better off forgoing the Meta Plus action entirely, since the child pages are not paying attention to the master page?

After re-entering all the info in the Page > Meta Tags area, I just saw the tiny box at the bottom of the Action Pallet: “use master” 8/
