[Pro] Missing lightwindow.js resources since update

Since updating Freeway Pro to 5.5.2 I’ve been getting the following error on uploading this site:

http://www.communiqueadvertising.co.uk

The error:

RESOURCE CANNOT BE FOUND. The following resources cannot be found.
The file JOB FOLDER:WEB SITES:Communique:communiqueadvertising.co.uk:communiqueadvertising.co.uk NEW Cards.freeway_:lightwindow.js for this resource cannot be found - it will not be published.

This has left the site in a broken state. Anyone any ideas? Re-application of action?

Had to re-upload a backup of the site html so at least the site works. Also flagged as missing: lightwindow.css

First, make sure you have the very latest version of all of the
“Scripty” Actions. I just updated them this week. Replace any that you
have downloaded of these:

  • Protaculous
    • Observer
    • Carousel
    • Carousel Pane, Tab, Text Tab, etc.
  • ScriptyAccordion
  • ScriptyLightbox
  • AjaxFileListing
  • CalendarView

Make very sure you REPLACE the versions you have installed. You may
find it easiest to locate and open your Actions folder in /Users/
[yourname]/Library/Application Support/Freeway 5/Actions/General and
find the files Protaculous.fwactionb, ScriptyAccordion.fwactionb,
ScriptyLightbox.fwactionb, AjaxFileListing.fwactionb, and
CalendarView.fwactionb and manually drag them to the trash, then drag
in the newly-downloaded (and un-zipped) versions you get from
ActionsForge.

Finally, if this amount of pick-and-shovel work doesn’t convince
Freeway to use the new versions, you will have to go through the one-
time pain of removing all instances of these Actions from your
document, publishing once without the Actions to clear Freeway’s cache
in the document itself, and then re-build the effects.

Thanks Walt - will give it all a go and report back with any experiences or conclusions.

Interesting… the site at:

http://www.communiqueadvertising.co.uk

If I just ignore the ‘resources not found’ warnings, build and upload the site - everything seems to now work. I still do get the warnings though.

On this site:

The carousels are broken and it requires a complete action strip out wherever I’ve used protaculous, the carousel actions, and scripty lightbox. Hours of work. Frustration doesn’t cover it I’m afraid. :–(

OK, an update…

I’ve replaced all the necessary actions, stripped them from the freeway document, and rebuilt one page to test the carousel:

http://www.meza9.co.uk/test/mezzanine-design.html

Still no go I’m afraid. This should work as per:

Not really sure where to go next, other than starting a fresh document and trying to copy things across.

Check to make sure that your carousel panes are properly connecting
with the parent Carousel, and that your Carousel Tabs are properly
connecting with their panes. I am seeing some variations when I look
at the diff between versions in BBEdit.

If you’re using rollovers on your tabs, you really need to do these
the “old fashioned” way, not using the stack/group/action method of
Freeway 3 and later. What I’m seeing here is that your normal and
rollover images are each getting their own link, with half of these
links being wrong and half seeming to be correct. The old-fashioned
way to make rollovers is as follows: Create both states of your tab as
separate stand-alone images. Enter your normal picture in a picture
box, click and add the Rollover Action to that image. Click on the
Parameters tab in the Actions palette, and choose your second picture
using the Select option in the Rollover picker.

In a possibly related issue, the CSS for both pages is being output in
a different manner. The panes are being given a height of 0px in your
new version, and a height of null in the old. Do you have defined
heights on your pane elements? You need to.

Ahaaaaaa… thanks Walt - now sorted.

It was the flexi height attribute applied to the carousel and associated pane boxes. As soon as a fixed height was applied… voila! The strange thing is that flexi-height worked fine in previous versions.

Thanks again Walt, and appreciated.

The code that the previous combination was outputting was completely
invalid, so the browser was making its own way with what it “saw”. The
new code is valid – and since you set the boxes to have no height,
0px is an accurate way to write that – but the result is that your
panes disappear.

All Actions are contextual. This means you need to have selected one
of the elements that the Action is meant to work with before the
Action will appear in any of the lists. Try clicking once on a layered
element – either a graphic box or an HTML box – and then look in the
Item / Actions menu.

Hi Walter,
Thanks for your reply.
I did click an element before clicking on the actions… but it stil wouldn’t show…
The Carousel Pane did show when I clicked on another item, but I still don’t understand why it’s not showing when the one is clicked on that I need in my carousel :frowning:
both are an grafic box with an image in it…

Check in the Inspector when you have the trouble item selected.
Chances are very good that the Layer checkbox in the Inspector will be
un-checked on the item you can’t apply the Action to.

Non-layered elements don’t have a lot of things that this Action needs
to get its job done, so you simply cannot apply the Action to such an
item…
