[Pro] mp3 player help request

Hi all,

Let me start by saying I know this has been asked many times in various ways but I cannot gather the info easily so I will just ask straight forward. I also know many are against music but my target audience (which is the most important, has requestes this feature but not in a forced way)…

What I would like to achieve is this- can you tell me if 1 player can meet all these goals:

  1. an .mp3 player that appears at the top of the index.html screen with music off on load. The visitor can play the music or not up to them.

  2. plays on mac, pc, and iOS

3)** will continue when the visitor is using all the related pages to my site (I believe this can happen with framing it). Not looking for it to stop at all as they navigate around the site to different .html pages. Not even skip in music.

  1. Can show like 5 songs that I have uploaded the mp3 for and they just choose.

Not very unique requests.

possible to have all?

thanks,

Barry

Regarding multiple songs (Playlist), I read that one option (which I cant get to work) is to have my songs on another site page. I did this by making a new page and then a graphic box, import and found the song.
Then choose in the yahoo media player action options the URL and the name of the page.

I thought the player would look at that site and get the music but instead when I click the word PLAY it takes me to my other page that I put the song son, the yahoo playe r is gone and the 2 songs play at same time with little quicktime play buttons.

hmmm

i am trying to get this… without the list of songs at the top. Notice the PLAYList of 6 songs in the player.

I Got IT!!

Ok- here is what I did. I inserted another instance of the action for the Yahoo player and repeated the procedure. What this does is give 2 “PLAY” buttons on my page (no good). So I dragged one of them to the Pasteboard, then I uploaded the site (can;t check it locally).

When I hit the PLAY button, the song played and the red 2 for playlist was there and I had the ability to choose from the 2 songs but they only see 1 button!! YIPPY!!

now on to figuring out the BIG one- is it possible to have the player play OVER the pages so people can navigate and listen?

we’ll see…

You have to now wrap the entire site in a frameset, and put the player in one frame and the entire site in the other. Set the player frame to a defined height, and set the “entire site” to undefined height (which means it will take up as much space as is left over).

Now since your site is basically an extranet, this will work fine, you’re not at all concerned about anybody bookmarking individual pages within your site, and you don’t care about search engine ranking. Others who come along and think this is a good idea: that’s why it is a terrible idea for most sites.
