[Pro] mp3 resources greyed out

My website referred to an archive file which was moved and all the status IDs in the Resources panel were “missing”. I was able to relink all the graphics but all my mp3 files (lots and lots!!) were greyed out. e.g when I go to locate the files again, every file I go to is not available. I am mystified as to why this is happening. It’s been suggested that I use soundcloud.com to host all these files but their free version is limited to 180mins. Youtube don’t like audio only. Any solutions/suggestions?

Have you tried Vimeo or daily motion to host them?

The website is www.idengreen.org.uk (but look at this page http://www.idengreen.org.uk/Resources/index.html). If you click on any links the small page that opens has no mp3 file present (same with all the links). Though in Freeway in Page and Preview view the files are present but not when I look at them in Freeway’s browser link nor as a live site.
Vimeo seem to have the same “problem” as youtube in not being happy with audio only. I have contacted DailyMotion and am waiting for a reply.

That is strange. Have you thought of maybe just hosting them on your server, and then once you upload them, it should be ok. You would just have to readd them onto your site instead of linking them

Why do you have an html page inside your Resources folder?

FW manages that folder and you really shouldn’t be mnessing with it unless you know exactly what you are doing.

FW certainly wouldn’t have put that page in there - unless you created a subfolder in your FW Doc called Resources - and that would be a bad idea. This may have nothing to do with your issue though.

When you were relinking missing files did you link them to the files that were in the Resources folder within the site folder? If so that was a mistake!

You should always link to the originals - that is why FW helpfully creates a Media folder for you as a place to store your original files (or at least a copy of them).

I would gather together all my original files - mp3s, images etc. - copy them into a Media folder and relink to them.

I agree with David. They can just live on your server and will work just the same
