[Pro] Multiple Quicktime Videos on one page

I have seen similar questions to this posted, but no replies that directly addressed what I would like to do. Here is an example of what I am trying to accomplish.

I would like to have a carousel of thumbnails below a window that contains the video(s). The first video would load and autoplay upon opening the page. When I click on a thumb nail, I would like the “target” video to open in the same window, of the same page, load and autoplay as well. My original thinking was that the target image action, which I use for photographs, would work, but I now know that target image doesn’t work for video.

In the example, the thumb nails can open and begin playing a different video clip within the same page. I have seen you address this issue previously using the “target hide/show layer” action, but the problem with that method is either the video clips will auto start and therefore when you click the trigger the video is already part way played or the user has to physically begin the video. Notice in the example how the trigger opens, loads and autostarts the video.

The poster concept that has solved other peoples problems does not seem to be the answer to my problems either. Or perhaps I am not fully getting my mind around the concept of the poster. Is it possible to use the thumb as the poster that triggers the video to load and autoplay in a separate window.

Or do I just need to resign myself to the fact that each video needs to be contained on a separate page?

Thanks

Well that page is all Flash - so not really comparable to what you want to do.

So is there is no way to get the same result using Quicktime? Why is that?

I didn’t say that - there may be - I just don’t know it!

Sounds to me like you need to consider using a Lightbox type of effect. Take a look at Walters’ actions:
