[Pro] New Freeway Pro site just gone live

Hi all,

Our latest website just went live at the tail end of last week and would love to know your thoughts.

http://www.frenchwineroutes.com

It’s for a British company based in France who offer organised and bespoke tours through the wine regions of France.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Very clean, very smooth, with all those little nuances that making it
equally delighting to the eye as well as providing that temptation to
let a full bodied red wash slowly over the tongue, to be savoured in
the evening sunshine of a French countryside, warm air cooled by just
the gentlest breeze…

In short. I like it. Just enough to make you want to go, without being
over commercialised.

Nice job Craig - very appealing site.
How did you do the picture hover effect?

@Colin - many thanks for your kind words. Our client has invited us over to stay, so we will definitely be taking him up on his offer as soon as we can find the time.

@Richard – thank you too. The picture hover effect was taken from http://tinyurl.com/5zpwwo A great little find after a good while searching on Google for this type of effect.

Looks good Craig.

My only slightly nag with it is that it could be hard to read the goldenrod-like color in the navigation. Perhaps if it was darkened just a bit.

Another thought: I wonder if you extended out the top-bar with the black and the goldenrod-like bar color to 100% and then had the footer be stretched out to 100% so there wasn’t any white space around and then applied a black background while having the inner-container background be white.

Overall, looks good Craig. Enjoy the benefits of the job.

Hi Craig;
Yes it’s very attractive as Colin said, however, don’t try to enlarge
the text or it’ll wipe out the graphics.

fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first

higher consideration.”

@ Dan J - Thanks for the comments. I’ll mention them to the designer and see what she says.

@ Dave Cox - Thanks for the comments too. I was aware of this, but needed to get the site live before I got around to it. I will probably look at making the text areas show a scroll bar once text has been enlarged to save this from happening at the next site update.

Thanks all for comments, much appreciated.

Hi Craig

Like the site. Just one question. How do you apply the hover effect.

Nice site. My question is how you did the pop-up boxes that describe the tours when you click on them.

@ Gray Owl - The Hover effect was done using “Easiest Tooltip and Image Preview Using jQuery” as mentioned in the fourth post up above. I will create a short tutorial later today and post it here for all to see. Subscribe to this thread if you want to see how I did it.

@ Jeffrey Stern - I used Highslide JS (http://www.highslide.com/) to create the main pop up boxes. I have used it on many projects and putchased a developer license so I can use it on any site from now on without any further license fees. I have found it to be the most comprehensive “Lightbox” available and the support from the developer and online community is fantastic.

@ Snapper - thanks.

For those interested in how I added the preview on hover effect in Freeway, I have created a tutorial at the following address:- http://tr.im/iFwP

Links to all materials are included in the tutorial file. The tutorial file can also be downloaded in PDF format if required.

Let me know if there are any problems with the tutorial.
