[Pro] Ordering of webyep "gallery"

Hi, one of our clients (A construction company) has a Freeway designed site which they’d like to manage themselves. We’ve always used Webyep for this and it works well. My only concern is that there is a “gallery” type page which has large thumbnails in a grid format of each building project. Each of these links through to a project page showing details of that particular project.

The site will only ever show 15 projects, but obviously as new projects are added, the client needs to be able to control the order of the thumbnails within the grid to allow the latest additions to appear at the top of the grid.

Any ideas or suggestions as to how this can be achieved within the Freeway/Webyep combination?

If I remember this correctly (which is harder each day), the wy gallery does have the sorting function.

Needless to say that a CMS requires an inflow-construction to work best (however even “absolute positioned” should work here).

I haven’t used WY for a longer time now so I can’t run a quick test right now - so correct me if I’m wrong.

Cheers

Thomas

Yes, Thomas is right. WY Gallery has up and down arrows in the editing mode which moves your thumbnail along in the pecking order.

Thanks for the feedback, seems like it is possible to achieve the ordering via WebYep’s gallery action, but the actual “gallery” thumbnails need to link to freeway page as opposed to a photograph.

Any way one can adjust this?

Matt, I’m just working on a site for a garage and Max has been a great help to me. Not exactly the same as what you’re asking, but this suggestion may be of some help to rethinking what you have already done.

On one of my main pages I have a WY loop of an image, long text item and a read more action. This then acts like a list down the page of picture, short description and then …Read more.

You then have to construct another page within Freeway which would have your full description and however many thumbnails you’d need for the gallery. This page also being WebYep editable.

The read more action then generates a new page for you to populate with the new information each time the ‘list’ page is added to - or you can amend your existing list if you want to lose any jobs on display (in my case, selling a car).

This is very much a work in progress, but you can see the thinking behind it here, all full of pictures I had on my Mac and dummy copy, but enough to get the idea across.
