[Pro] Our new FW 5.5 and forwarded HTML emails

Yes, I am very happy with the option of HTML emails which can be made with the new 5.5. I have succeeded making such email, however, when I forward the email all text and pics are gone.
Not always though: when I sent from my MAIL to hotmail, hotmail will show it. When I retun from hotmail to MAIL then it appears too. Whenever I use gmail to MAIL, no message comes in, zero, not even an empty one. So, I have done some more sending back and forth with some email programs and the result is quite random.
Now, in FW I have made a simple lay-out in a table and no use of CSS options. Pictures: yes! And text of course.

The feature of being able to forward is extremely important to me as these mails will work within a concept of forwarding…

Any ideas or help available?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

I’ve found MailChimp to work very consistently. It’s a free sending service and you can send up to 3000 emails a month to up to 500 recipients. They also give you the ability to check your messages in multiple mail clients. You can also bundle plain text versions of emails into your HTML emails so people who reject HTML emails can still get your message.

One thing to bear in mind is that some email clients will still fail, despite all your efforts. Expect this to happen and provide people with a nice clear link to the online version of your message at the very top of your message and you will be all set.

Another great (but more pricey) testing service is Litmus. We used them during testing of the Create Email Action and found them to be extremely quick and intuitive.

Hope this helps,

Joe

Thanks Joe,
But my contacts need to forward emails themselves. Are you saying that when mailchimp sends it, people will be able to forward them without loosing the content?

Hi Paul,

No, I mean that if you, or your client want to send HTML emails then you should use a dedicated service for the best results. If you send it through a regular email client then there’s no guarantee that it will work as expected. Mail does a great job but it’s not as reliable as a dedicated service.

I would personally use MailChimp (or similar) to send the client a test email so they can see it, then hand over the HTML to them so they can then send the message out to their lists themselves.
