[Pro] Page Length (height)

Working on 5.4.

I want to have a very long page…extra long…but I can’t seem to get a page longer than about 16400px. I can put in the height of something longer; but, when I Preview or Publish it - it’s cuts off.

Anyone have a thought?

Thanks a million.

16400px

Wow! That is extra long.

I hope a page this long is mainly HTML text or it is going to take a seriously long time to load.

But to answer your question I don’t know - that sort of length does seem excessive.

There must be a better way to achieve this - what exactly are you trying to do so we can offer other solutions.

Well, all I want to have is a very quick way to publish some photos for visitors to see. Seems like every other option takes far too long to actually setup in Freeway. So…any suggestions would be welcome. This is the idea - a very, very simple way to put current work up for a client. I don’t think it takes long to load at all…but, maybe I just have a fast connection?

I see that your photos are between 40k and 90k and this page took
about 1.5 sec to open for me. That is good but if you start getting
much larger photos, 500k + each then it will slow down a lot. I have a
cable connection at 6 mbps so others may take longer.

This was just fyi.

Yeah…they aren’t ever going to be any larger than that. Just small images that are large enough for someone to see the paintings w/o being able to really copy or print them. Anyway, thanks for the loading speed info; I appreciate it. If you have another suggestion about how I can quickly upload photos to a ‘site,’ I’d really appreciate it. Thx.

I have possibly the slowest DSL/phone line (Quest) on Earth, and it
only took about 6 seconds for me. That’s super fast around here!

The problem with doing it like this is that the visitor gets bored having to keep scrolling down and down…

Far better to have smaller thumbnails set in a grid that when clicked open a new window (pic to new window action) and you will be able to keep your image grid at a few hundred pixels high.

Small images on the 1st page mean Fast load time and you can then have better quality on the new pages.

And if you have a Master set up for the new window pages it is very quick to set up.

Freeway should allow you to enter a figure up to 32767px in as both
the width and height. This is simply an application imposed limit so
if you needed anything longer then I’d suggest using actions, includes
or markup items to add more content to the page.

Tim.
