[Pro] Page not displaying correctly using Chrome

Hi gang,

Using chrome on a Macbook Pro, the following pages on my site are not being displayed correctly. The common symptom is the white part of the page does not extend all the way to the bottom (below the copyright and Qi graphics):

  1. http://xssmgmt.com/xssabout.html

  2. http://xssmgmt.com/xssnews.html

  3. http://xssmgmt.com/xsscontact.html

The problem seems to be that If the browser window is short enough to require scrolling, the white part does not extend fully.

Can anyone help me with a fix?

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to those in the States.

Tom

I hate to tell you, but the problem is not with Chrome. Or your MacBook
Pro. It is your mistaken understanding of how Freeway Pro works.

To be fair, this is a common mistake among FWP users - the app itself
encourages the wrong notion of what a “page” is. The visible appearance of
a page on the web is an absolutely artificial construction.

Once again, for emphasis… that thing on the web which looks like a page is
absolute fiction.

When that is understood, then it’s easier to design to the reality.

Here’s an old example of how to do it (contains both layered and inline
versions. It was perviously converted from a vers 5 example and I haven’t
looked at it in awhile, but perhaps it will give you ideas.

The Big Erns,

Thank you for the help. I am new to FWP. Is there an easy fix for my problem?

Tom, did you download my example file and look at it? There are two
examples in the file - one for Inline Layouts and another for Layered
layouts. You want the layered example.

The thing that FWP addresses as the “page” is actually the browser window
or “viewport”. Since the size of the viewport determines the size of the
“page” and not Freeway’s misleading definition, your “page” will always be
the size of the viewport, which means when there is enough content to
scroll, you scroll down past the limit of the viewport.

What I do to get that fake page look is to draw my white “page” right onto
the workspace in FWP, making sure that the boxes of content that I draw
above it are children of that white “page” box. The easiest way to see this
relationship is in the Site/Page panel on the left. If the content boxes
are indented below the Page box that I drew, then they are children.
Usually if you draw your child-box on top of the parent (page) box, it is
automatic. But there can be hiccups and if you see the box is not indented,
you can drag it’s name in the Site/Page window until it is indented.

It cannot be any easier.
