[Pro] Page too wide

I am in the middle of building a site and on this page I have 4 Carousels (all Webyep editable as is the text block below). Although I can see no items out on the right I am getting a horizontal scroll bar and can scroll way over into blankspace.

Have moved all the carousel panes to the left of the page but no change

I have begun to rebuild the page with so far no issues but can anyone identify why I have such a wide page?

I’m not sure if it’s related, but item4 and item5 are both off the page to the left by 1,000 px. One thing I would try is to make sure that your carousel panes are each either grouped or nested into discrete collections of elements. I am thinking that something is missing the collection process, and is being left behind instead of being scooped up by the Action and pushed into the carousel effect. I really like your shadow effects, very neat.

Thanks for the thoughts Walter.
My last move before asking this question was to group all the panes and shift them over to the left from their original position on the right- they became items 4, 5 etc. I have renamed them as group-carousel-panes. However it did not solve the problem.

I have almost finished a rebuild which does not have the problem - almost identical but with bigger photos (site owners request). I will see if I can spot the difference if I put the code side by side. I have an app for that somewhere - Kaleidoscope I think.

Glad you like the shadows! Reassuring.

Hi Richard,

The problem is caused by an image called “striplifting.png” that is positioned way to the right and way above your page. If you remove this then the problem goes away.

Ahhh! Thanks. Now how come I can not see that! And how come you can Chris? I see it as an item (later abandoned as an idea ) in the site panel but I was looking for it in the page view, design view and in a browser but no show. I see that I will have to move things out of the way in a more disciplined manner.

best wishes Richard

Yeah you can’t go dumping things on the pasteboard willy-nilly like that. I found it by inspecting your page item by item. We often get queries like that where a page is much larger than it should be and it’s more often than not caused a stray item somewhere.

The easiest way to find things like that is to open the Web Inspector of your choice and simply delete items one by one, when the page jumps back to the correct size then you’ve found the culprit.

Nice site by the way, you’ll have to show us the redesign once it’s done. We always like to see pretty things made with Freeway.

Thanks for taking time to do that Chris - Just tested that method and worked a treat.
And thanks for your comments on the site. There are a few pages to go yet but will happily seek your views again once it is done. Positive feed back from you and Walter is much appreciated. I hope I can keep it pretty.

Best wishes Richard
