[Pro] Paypal

Hi all

I have a question. Is there a way to create a custom paypal but instead of the default yellow design??

Thanks

I am sure that PP provide the code for this - at least for theirs - and then it should be a simple substitution of your image for theirs.

What do you want this button to do?

Hi David
long time

yes I know the paypal button is iconic but one of my clients does not like it, especially the yellow color,so I was thinking maybe there are substitutes but paypal does not have one, I suppose I could design one and put in markup code??

You could, but you may end up with a problem. The Paypal code pulls
all of its resources from a single secure server, and a mixture of
secure and insecure content can trigger a scary-looking security
warning in IE. It won’t actually be insecure per se, but the user
won’t know that, and the more easily frightened Windows users will
probably balk at pressing any buttons on that page.

Thx Walter
I did think of this as a possible problem so I may just have to stick with the fabulous looking yellow button

I wonder how your client would feel if some other site was linking to his and they wrote to him and told him they didn’t like his logo and could they change it?

I really do not understand the comment Paul… some clients are very particular. This client had a very clean color sensibility and just asked if it were possible. They actually liked the pale blue/grey of the original button.

I come to Freewaytalk for solutions as per a client request.
If the answer is not then the answer is no. I am not appreciating some comments I have received on this site. Its really not necessary.

I told the client if we use Paypal we have to stay with the yellow button - simple

Some companies I’ve done work for are very fussy about how you use
their logos. Using your own variant could get you into trouble. Their
logo is part of their identity and you’re misrepresenting them.

you’re not required to use the default paypal button. if you create your buttons on the paypal site, they allow you to upload your own images.

Actually I have gone onto paypal site and they do have a design section where the allow the user to upload their own paypal button
I will upload the link in next post so paypal makes this possible and they generate within their code
So they obviously do not mind
Thx

Carla,

Could you be more specific with the paypal link, please.

I also find the paypal button UGLY and dated in appearance. Ok there is a certain corporate identity involved but you would think they could keep up with the times and offer a choice and be a little more visually appealing. But if your raking in the billions… .

I did see mentioned on their site ‘Your Payment Button Options - We have a great choice of payment buttons’, err dark blue on orange throughout is not a great choice.

Paypal are not alone; the W3c validation credit (tick) is also pretty horrid imho.

Thanks.

You would think they could get their website to work with FF, slightly better with safari.
