[Pro] Phantom Underlined Text on homepage

Hi there,

I hope you can help me before I go insane with banging my head against a brickwall… but I have been struggling to fathom why the body copy on my homepage shows up as underlined, when previewed in Safari or FF… but Opera seems to work fine!

There is no where in the site, where I have specifically put text to underlines. I have gone into the styles palette and changed the extended value ‘name=text-decoration’ ‘value=none’… but nothing! What’s more… it’s only happening on the homepage and nowhere else…Its driving m crazy! Please help!

My test site is www.jonkdesign.co.uk/yachtshop

Thanks in advance

Jon

This code from your page

<body style="text-decoration:underline">

Is your culprit

Brilliant… cheers Dave.

This is probably a really dopey question, but where can I find the culprit in order to change it? I have looked at the body style and it says “text-decoration:none” and there are no extended attributes to the page that I can see.

Again from your page

<div id="news-dufour365" class="f-x2" style="position:absolute; left:725.585px; top:19px; width:156px; z-index:3; overflow:visible">
		<p class="f-lp"><a href="dufour365.html" style="outline: none"><body style="text-decoration:underline"><span class="Redtext" style="text-decoration:underline">Dufour 365 in stock now!</span></body></a></p>
	</div>

So look at the div: news-dufour365

BTW if when you post a link you use http:// in front of it, then it will become clickable and we lazy bu***rs wont have to copy and paste into our browsers.

Another thing - a little typo from that page:

Full chandlery, boat yard facilities and marina allow us to off the total service.

Cheers Dave,

I’ll bare that in mind for future for the lazy bu***rs out there :o)

Call me thick… but I am still finding it hard to locate the area (within Freeway) in order to set the text-decoration to none. I had a look at the div attribute of the items in question… and there are none applied. Same goes for the body, page and item… so no idea where to look.

Soz to be a pain.

Just check one other place for this underline

In the Style inspector click the cog>edit styles and check to see if you have any extended attributes for body (if indeed you even have a body tag in there)

Also you have this:

</html> style="text-decoration:underline"><span class="Redtext" style="text-decoration:underline">Dufour 365 in stock now!</span></body></a></p>

Have you added any Page HTML markup after ? Because there is some not properly formed styling here.

In fact you have 2 closing and tags on this page - no wonder it is screwed up.

I think what I would do is copy everything off this page, delete the page and paste it all into a new page with the same name.

Hey Dave,

Thanks so much… I recreated the page and voila!! - all problems solved!!

Put a website in the hands of a designer with very little coding experience and look what happens!!

Cheers again for your time and help!
