[Pro] php Feedback form not working

I would really appreciate any help with this Feedback form. It might be something simple but after 6 hours of trying I am out of any new ideas.
Can’t make it work. I noticed that a lot of people had problems with it. I am one of them.
Appreciate any help with this…

Thanks, Dan Demetriad

Hi Dan,

A few questions:

  1. Is your site on a GoDaddy server?
  2. Has this feedback form ever worked on this server before?

If the answer to question 1 is yes then you need to contact GoDaddy and ask them to reinstall the gdform.php file that should be present at the root of your account. According to the GoDaddy support documentation this should be present on all Linux packages but (from my experience) is often missing.
If the answer to question 1 is no then turn off the GoDaddy option in the Action, upload and try the form again.
If the answer to question 2 is yes then your host has changed something on the server. Again contact them and ask them what has changed to make PHP form to mail fail like this.
If the answer to question 2 is no then I’m hoping that the answers to question 1 will resolve the issue.

In a not too distant future there will be a shiny new version of this Action with far fewer features and a core support for most Apache web hosts. Sadly GoDaddy won’t be on that supported host list as unless they do something to dramatically improve their form to mail processing in the near future. I would estimate that 90% of the support emails I answer about this Action involve GoDaddy.

My (as yet unpublished) FAQ on the Action starts with;
Q. Are you planning on hosting your site on a GoDaddy server
A. Don’t!

Regards,
Tim.

Thanks so much Tim.

Unfortunately I am dealing with “GoDaddy” and they are “not going”…

They do not want to help, so I do not know what to do short of changing my host…

Best and thanks again

Hi Dan,
A few links for you;

  1. Some information on setting up and using gdform.php for form processing - http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/510/using-php-form-mailers
  2. Reinstalling the default scripts (including gdform.php) should they be missing - http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/3434/reinstalling-the-default-scripts-directory-on-linux-shared-hosting
  3. Specifying a recipient email address for gdform.php to use - http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/508/specifying-an-email-address-for-the-php-form-mailer

Once you’ve the script installed and setup use the GoDaddy checkbox option in the PHP Feedback Form Action interface. It will set your form up to post to the gdform.php script.
Good luck.
Regards,
Tim.

Thanks Tim for all your help. I will try all the links you gave me along with the staff that Godaddy just sent me: see below. Please let me know what you think.
I was giving up on the form, so I did not check the Forum until now (sorry for not answering earlier), when GoDaddy sent me this code:

Support Staff Response
Dear Dan,

Thank you for contacting Online Support.

We have reviewed your account and hosting with an advanced support department. The cause of the 404 error is due to the fact that the gdform.php has been removed from your hosting plan. There is no way to restore this file as it is a default file we provide pre-added to each hosting plan. However, the file webformmailer.php is still on your account and you can use this for your form instead.

Yes. By replacing your existing form tag with the code below, you can upgrade to webformmailer.php without any additional changes.

Please let us know if we can assist you any other way.

Have you ever heard such a crock of s**t!

This just emphasises why I don’t use GD for hosting.

I don’t know where the gdform.php lives on your webserver but I am pretty sure that someone could email you a copy to upload.
