[Pro] PNG image conversion issue

I’m new to Freeway. I’m trying to build a site that has PNG images with transparency. These images were built with Pixelmator, and appear to have correct transparency.

When I bring them into Freeway Pro I place them in a graphic box, and set the output to PNG with “millions” of colors as the manual states.

When I Publish the site, the images become black. In other words, the transparency remains, but a QuickLook on the image in the Resource folder shows only black pixels where no transparency was set. All visible pixels in the image are black.

For what it’s worth, I’m doing CSS layout, and have set the site to use separate CSS files.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks!

I may have solved my own problem. I changed the Colors to “adaptive” and it now seems to be producing the right output. I would suggest this is a bug either in Freeway or in the documentation, because the doc states that if the image has transparency, set color to “millions”. But I also note that when I set color to “millions” the slider for the number of colors to use remains on the screen. That seems odd to me.

Strange, and totally unlike my experiences with
24-bit/32-bit/millions+ PNG file output. Black when viewed in a
browser or just in the Finder? Could you publish this online
somewhere?

Both.

When I can come up for air from my project, I’ll put up a demo. At the moment I have a workaround, and have to hit my deadline!

No problem, makes sense. Best of luck.

When you have time, could you convert one of those images to a
layered/with transparency Photoshop document (.psd) and see if you
get the same result when you set that to output as PNG at millions
of colours?

But not 'til after you’re done with the real work of course!
