[Pro] point to a domain or use a domain?

So, to be clear… the client wants their customers to read www.xproduct.com in an advert, tap it into their browser and access the xproduct page on the www.xmanufacturer.com web site.

I see the issue. In advertising terms that is a very sensible approach. It isn’t necessarily ideal in SEO terms, but you can’t have everything.

My personal advice: go with the product-domain name method as planned… but DON’T try to slavishly recreate the print literature! Make new layouts that use images and real text. Use templates and simple layouts rather than attempting to reproduce the print artwork in HTML structure so you don’t spend too long on each one. That will net you far, FAR better SEO results than just filenames anyway.
