What is the best way to post a link example without the link for freewaytalk showing up on google search etc?

You could try using a robots.txt file on your example server, Google is fairly respectful of those. But you could also apply a server-side password (with .htpasswd and .htaccess) through your server’s control panel. Even if you put the username and password and the link in the same message to this list, Google is not yet sentient enough to put two and one together.

Walter, would that protect the link from being farmed off the FreewayTalk
website? I think he might be shy about searches for his client’s website
returning discussions from Freewaytalk.

Myself, I’m no longer afeard of such things. Transparency works for me.

If you don’t want the site to be found in searches for the client site, then post it under your server domain (and restrict access), or use tinyURL or another link-obfuscator/shortener to disguise its origin. If you just don’t want the page to be seen, then any of the suggestions I made would work for that.

Thanks Walter

I’ll use Tiny URL or equivalent that will work for me.

Ernie, this has nothing to do with being shy about putting my site on here its just a personal preference.

The website is my own site I don’t do web design as a business.

Thanks again

Fair enough, I was only trying to make sure you got a full answer to your
question. I am unconcerned with your reasons.

Though I will point out that tiny urls also obscure the destination for
humans as well, and some people won’t click them as a matter of security.
Most likely will, though.
