[Pro] Preventing Master Page Changes?

In FWP 6, if there’s a page item that you don’t want the master page to change or overwrite EVER (like CMS Crowbar pages) can you prevent that by simply renaming the item so that it’s different from the master page name?

If you click on an element and look in the Inspector, you will see checkboxes for Use Master Content and User Master Settings. You can detach either or both of these, and the element will no longer take its lead from the master element – it will be just as if you drew it all by itself on that page.

Thanks Walter. Good to know. However, I’m not sure that always works. I’ve seen some strange behavior with those check boxes turning themselves on and off.

BTW, what happens if you rename an item based on a master page? Is the link to the master broken indefinitely, or can you relink it by simply changing the item back to match the master item?

You’d have to experiment with this. My guess is that no, the name is not important at all. It’s an object reference from the master to the child, and it exists regardless of what those two are currently named. Now in Freeway 6, the name of a master item is translated into the stylesheet reference to it, so there it might make more of a difference.

Thanks. The reason I ask is the footer broke in several of my pages and I can’t get the Master to reconnect it. Not sure what’s going on.
