I am trying to view the very simple carousel i just created. When i preview it in the firefox browser a message saying i need additional pluggins to display the media on my page keeps coming up- but it won’t tell me what pluggins I need. My computer is a Mac OS X 10.4.11. I don’t have any other freeway actions- could that be a problem? could it be that i need other updates? I am running freeway 5.3.2
I have tried re doing the carousel several times. same thing, it works, only one of the pages is not my page and it says click here to download pluggin.
Carousel by itself does not need any plug-ins. If you placed content
in your carousel element (or anywhere on the page) that requires a
plug-in (like a movie, or a flash animation, or something besides a
static image or HTML, then you may need to get that plug-in to view
the content.
Off the top of my head, one thing that could cause this if you don’t
have any movies on the page, is if you put a TIFF or PSD file on the
page as a pass-through. Freeway (and Safari) can preview these
natively, without any plug-ins, because they use the QuickTime media
layer to display all images, and QuickTime can “play” just about
anything that Photoshop can. I don’t believe that Firefox does that,
though, so if it encounters a photo that isn’t one of the “blessed”
types (JPEG, GIF, GIF89a, or PNG) it is probably going to complain.

thank you sooooooo much for the info. I tried everything, it didn’t work in safari or in firefox. You were right, I was using photoshop and illustrator files.
After I got your message I tried it with jpegs and it worked.
Should I not be using illustrator or photoshop files at all in freeway? For some reason, the same size files from photoshop saved as jpegs and as photoshop files have terrible resolution in freeway compared to the exact same size file saved from illustrator- do you have any insight into why that might be?

Most files will work as expected when run through FW - you can adjust their compression etc. in the FW interface.
Sometimes - to preserve quality of a particular file - you may want to export them from Pshop/Illustrator and use them as pass-through images in FW (so that FW will not compress an already compressed image)
You can use almost any type of file that Photoshop or Illustrator can
save – but only within a Graphic box, and only in a non-pass-through
setting. (When you place an image in a graphics box, there is a
checkbox in the file dialog that is labeled “Pass-through”. When this
is checked, Freeway will not modify the input image in any way, and
expects you to have made that image “Web-ready”. When it is not
checked, Freeway will allow you to scale the image, rotate it, crop
it, etc. – and it will compress the result for you into a JPEG or GIF
or PNG, depending on your settings in the output tab of the Inspector.)

Are they appearing pixellated and the wrong size? If so, it’s a good idea to double-click the image and click on the ‘Resample’ button in the dialog that appears.
