[Pro] Problem with editing a long text

after i solved a problem regarding text scrolling i am now facing a difficulty with editing a long text. the text scrolls fine when previewed in a browser but i cannot get to the end of it in page editing mode: it stops scrolling as it reaches the end of my screen.

any suggestions?

I just have a ‘spare’ page with a very long text box in it. I
copy/paste the text from the real page to it, edit it, and put it
back. I too would like to know if there’s a better way.

Yep. Draw out a second HTML box, use the Link tool (in the toolbar)
to connect the first HTML box to the second, then edit the text
across both boxes.

When you’re done just delete the second box or it will claim the text
that overflows at Freeway ‘design time’ and your scrolling box will
only have some of the text left in it. Deleting the second box simply
pushes all the text back in the first.

thanks to both of you.

keith, just to get it clear: where should i draw the 2nd box? on the same page? and quite long so as to hold the long text, right?

I usually temporarily make the page size deeper so that the large text box fits on it.

Try off to one side of the same page so it doesn’t interfere with the
layout. This is temporary, it isn’t intended to be a part of the
final output.

Make it wide as well as tall so you can see a lot of text without
having to extend the page - which can impact your design in some
situations.

If your text is white or pale just make your temporary HTML box have
a black or dark colour fill to help you see the content more clearly.

You can extend your pasteboard size in the Document Setup dialog
(choose File > Document Setup) to give yourself more room for your
off-page HTML box if required.
