[Pro] Problem with moving Freeway files to another computer

My hard drive crashed and I’ve had to copy all the files to another mac computer and am having a problem when I try to preview it in a browser, I get the following message:

could not generate the HTML file (the name of the file was next)because a file is in use. Check you have write permission to export folder and the the file is not open in another application
(-26020:66:1064)

ALSO

All the scripty lightbox actions say they are missing.
Does anyone know how to link those up?

Thanks,
bob

If you have a good backup of your old hard disk, those Actions (and they are nested bundle format – files and folders in a hierarchy, masquerading as a single file) are found in ~/Library/Application Support/Freeway 5/Actions/General if you drag-and-drop or double-click installed them as usual.

Simplest to download them from ActionsForge again. That way you get the latest of everything.

What do you mean by ‘all the files’? Was Freeway installed on the other computer or did you just drag the Application across?

(I might also ask what you mean by ‘my hard drive crashed’ but that could be a very long conversation)

Hi Grant,

Well to make a long story short, my mac mini froze while
I was saving a file, and when I went to restart,
to my dismally depressive downright disgust all I got on the screen with the large grey apple (after hours with a sledgehammer and still the little mini didn’t respond, I took it to the genius bar at an Apple Store where they declared the little mini could no could;(

I installed a fresh freeway onto a trusty mac lapbook pro along with all the files from my the no longer mac. I had to locate some missing files which I did and had them all say “OK” in that column. The only missing items were the couple of scriptylightbox actions which I’m not sure
how to hook up again.
AND
when I went to preview I got that message about not generate HTML file. As a test I deleted that particular HTML file it was upset with, and guess what happened when I tried to preview? I got the same not generate HTML file, but the file it was talking about now was the next file that was not at the top of my site list after I deleted the first one.

So that bout sums things up, maybe it was a tad not short:) but if you’ve got any suggestions I’ll reply with just two words of thank you

Hi Walter,
Where would I do the drag and drop of the Scripty actions?

To get the files to publish, simply choose a different site folder in the Document Setup dialog. You are getting permissions errors because your user on the Mini made those files, and that user “owns” them. Your user on the laptop does not have authority to replace them. I’m surprised you were able to delete the first one, actually. Have you tried emptying the trash yet?

If you had them on your desktop or in your Downloads folder, you would drag them onto the Dock icon of Freeway, while it is running. That will install them. But seriously, don’t try to use the versions you recovered from your old Mini. Much easier and better all around to download fresh copies from the Forge.

Thanks Walter, I created a new site folder and was
able to preview in a browser.

I’ll reinstall the Scripty from Forge

SOMETHING ELSE JUST NOTICED:
when I go to save as the Freeway file there are two freeway icons in the bottom left of the save as box and there is a radio button next to each one.

The first “f” icon has the upper right corner folded over
The second"f" icon has the lower right icon folded over

Do you know what that’s about?

Thanks for all the help!

PS Maybe I’ll use my gone gone mini mac as a hot plate holder for things that come out of the oven…maybe sell it on ebay under dishware;)

One is a template, the other is a regular file. When you save a file as a template, each time you open it, you get a new copy as untitled[number].freeway with everything the way it was when you saved the template. This is helpful if you have a complex site and you need to make a number of duplicates of it with only a few changes, or if you have a collection of Actions that you like to use in all your sites and want to start all your projects with the same setup.
