[Pro] problem with vertical alignemt

considering the different look/behaviour of windows and mac browser, i can’t get a textbox with shadow which adapts to his content.
see the white letter http://www.im-fokus-news.de
because of the vertical shadow, the white box is to big (mac) or to small (win), because the textflow is different.
any ideas, how i can get a box which expands the shadow (as gif/png/jpg) in it?
i`ve tried tables with no succes, the image in he cell doesn’t stretch like the cell.

Hmm - I have a solid solution with some flaws in it. Furthermore I am not sure how to describe (even in my best german :-)).

What we need first:

  1. A shadow that is much longer than you need. It could looks like: Skitch | Evernote The two slices need to be taken as shown in the example. The top shadow need to be a jpg including the background-color (flaw 1). The long shadow can be a .png without bg-color (or a jpeg as well including bg).

The idea behind now is to make a simple inline construction using those two slices. The final result will look like this:

I thought it is probably a good idea to share the artwork so you can look what I did:

Nice one Thomas

I was working on this using before and after pseudo elements for an imageless solution - http://www.deltadesign.co/fw_examples/curl2.html - but hadn’t got the box expansion sorted yet.

Your method is easier and probably more cross browser compatible.

Haaa - David,

tried something similar in another project (with the same problems).

The pseudo elements are so exciting, as well as the @media queries however I haven’t entirely thought about them consequently and how to use them in the Freeway-environment yet.

But I should and I’m pretty sure we have the same “inspiration base” for stuff like this, isn’t it … ?

I’d really like to discuss all this stuff Freeway-related, chances, problems probably in another list.

Cheers

Thomas
